// Introduction
Please, Make Yourself at Home
My name is Michael McNiel and I'm a current software developer at Time Manufacturing Inc. I'm one of two developers in the company that develop and maintain the internal software, Epicor ERP system, and any other integrations we decide to launch that month. I'm well versed in developing enterprise .NET applications and modernizing legacy codebases. My true love lies lower as I typically enjoy furthering my knowledge of C/C++ as well as Assembly. I'm more versed in ARM Assembly, but eventually we'll dive into the deep end of x86 Assembly.
If you're looking for more specifics on any of these sections, feel free to download my resume available on this page!
// Experience
Field Expedient
The majority of my day to day work utilizes C# and Microsoft SQL Server. My largest current project has migrating Time Manufacturing Inc.'s old intranet over to .NET 10 in order to future proof the integrations into our Epicor ERP system. That involves switching all of the Entity Framework bits into Epicor REST API calls and it's been a large ordeal to say the least!
I also develop and maintain other integrations and solutions ranging from our Message Queue system to customer facing web apps hosted on Azure. While I call myself a developer, I'm something of a sys admin myself (insert Willem Dafoe picture here).
I started in help desk like most IT professionals at my old school I used to go to where I mainly dealt with repairing Chromebooks and installing other peripherals like security cameras and Wi-Fi routers. I've gotten to know a lot about how IT should function due to this combined experience and thanks to the generous individuals willing to give me a chance to begin with.
// Education
I Should Have Become A Watchmaker
I graduated from Western Governors University with my bachelor's degree in computer science in August of 2026. I initially wasn't sure if getting a bachelor's degree was worth it after getting my A.A.S. in computer programming technologies at Texas State Technical College - Waco, but it was 100% worth it.
I had been self taught for a while until I finally committed to filling in those gaps with a structured education. From there, I felt more confident and knowledgeable in my work. I continue to further my education by reading various textbooks and implementing the solutions in practical ways. If you've seen my project/article on building an in-memory database in C, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! (P.S. you should really check out that project on this website!)
// Interests
Off The Rock, Through The Bush, Nothing But Jackal
If you haven't already noticed, these headings (and really the theme of the website itself) are related to the Halo game series! I absolutely love the original Halo games (CE - Reach). I grew up with them and they became a pivotal part in my decision to become a developer in the first place. It was my dream to learn the tools of the trade and create things that I'm actually proud of using a computer.
I also create YouTube videos which you can watch by clicking the YouTube icon in the navigation bar above! I mostly talk about older games that I grew up with as well as movies and whatever else I feel like talking about that day. Even if I never get insanely popular, I have a genuine interest and enjoyment in it, so that's really all that matters to me.
On top of that, I, like many others, love to workout, cook, and paint. But are you really here to see me tell you the same thing you've been told a million times already? I thought not.
